Are there two stroke engines that runs without crankcase compression? I was thinking to design a 2 and 4 stroke engine in one (2 cyliders or 4). 4 stroke to get engine to idle and to speed. And two stroke to take at high rpm the speed. I have read that at tuned exhaust scavaging take more place and crankcase volume (and compression) doesn't really matter. But here it is mesioned that higher crankcase ratio is for high speed (where more scavaging is). Of course when hitting high rpm, the 4 stroke cylinder need to fulley open exhaust so it rev freely. I never saw this before

The two CV vans were popular for delivery. How many young people can you pack into one to travel from Bremerhaven to check out Club Aladdin in Bremen, the classical Aladdin Theater turned into a club? Like sardines packed into a telephone booth, flying down the Autobahn, bouncing up and down a full 40 to 45 mph, speed wasn't the important thing anyway. Apart from driving the 1960s Volkswagen bus, one of the most exciting vehicles in the world, if not one of the most fun. It was an unforgettable experience I was fortunate to participate in. Those were the days of which we thought would never end. I pray for peace, which is why I served.

We know companies cut corners to save some bucks, but most problems you showed are cheap and possibly easy to repair, specially those software related, at least if they developed it instead of buying it to other company (and in that case, they would be in their rights to demand that company to repair those problems for free or at least for cheap IMHO)

I think it will sound similar to a 4-71 Detroit diesel! Why not build a diesel version also for equipment use? Just build a thicker iron or aluminum block, heavy cast steel crank and rods. Thick pistons and a head with flame deck. Moving the combustion chamber into the piston. Use as many of the same parts as possible. And raise the compression to 20:1 or so, and overdrive the compressor about 10-15% and add a bit of intercooling. Or just add a turbo to the mix, with a bypass. So the valve opens when the turbo exceeds the blowers boost. Hopefully 16-20 psi. And use a slightly short stroke , Large Bore and sneak it into a car! (The equipment grade engine getting a long stroke, 88mm bore, with 104 mm stroke , for a small 4-cylinder, and possibly a 6cyl. A sleeve/ cylinder liners swap to get a 104mm bore, and crank swap to get est.80mm. (+/-) with a air to water intercooler that bolts to the head, being part of the intake. And a higher lift cam and larger valves to get more flow, allowing about 1500-2500 + additional rpm along with a 6speed manual and automatic transmission in a 3k lbs +/-400 lbs vehicle, with a Subaru style AWD, (maybe build a opposed piston engine with 3cyl, a supercharger/turbo system swapped into a Subaru, would be awesome idle at 450 -500 rpm, make 10psi at 800-950 RPM, the compound turbo spools around1500-2k rpm, the second turbine spools around 3500, Making around 60psi about 4k-4250 rpm, and peak power about 5k-5350, and fuel shut off at 5500,(5750, maximum) with the low center of gravity, mounted in the place of the Subaru engine. Making about 600hp and 790 TQ with street tune , water/methanol injection, and boost cranked up, fuel cranked possibly 900hp1200tq from a 6" bore, 4" stroke 3cyl, 6piston engine, breathing through 65-70% of the bore diameter. .800-1.0" wide ports with multiple .325" port wide bridges, similar to a Detroit diesel intake ports, the intake having minimal water cooling around the ports and cthe exhaust having .275" of metal around the ports between the water-cooling. And cast in cooling fins in the water jackets .080" thick fins with .040-.050" gaps, and .125-.150" tall fins for maximum surface area to cool the exhaust ports and cylinder in that port area. The same fins in the area around the combustion area. And 4 oil squirter's cooling the pistons, the pistons having similar fins on the piston under side. .090" tall fins .030"wide grooves between .050 thick fins in a spiral /grid pattern in the center 70-80% of the piston and possibly force oiling the 1.625" to 2.125" wrist pin, with 3" 4340 rocket pins mounted similar to main journals with thrust bearings on all four corners. The large 4340 steel rockers having .225" oil passages to lube the thrust surfaces and bearings fed from the "main bearings" the lube the piston rod and crank rod bearings , under 20-50 psi- 15-60 min/max.oil pressure 10w30 oil with a 1.2 SQ ft oil cooler ,double layer oil cooler. With oil to water heat exchanger to heat the oil with water & vise versa. , sorry about the crazy dream engine /vehicle, but would love to design from paper car and engines. Have a awesome day 🎉✌🏻✌🏽✌🏿👍🏿👍🏽👍🏻

Had an atv with 2 stroke. I wanna get another atv but as we all know they can’t produce them here anymore. Could change the top and piston under hour. Just have to carry some spare reeds with because they’d crack once awhile. Kids will never get to experience “powerband” guess now it’ll have to be turbos Correct me if I’m wrong but thought Yamaha or Honda made a 2stroke last couple years that was cleaner than the typical 4 stroke?

  • @username-mk8gf

They might as well use another piston to replace the 2 stroke crankcase displacement and use DI, this is worse than Nissans variable compression linkage. Watching that piston head pop up and down like a gopher is just hilarious.

Nothing like a pushrod boxer, virtually perfect balance and firing, beautifully utilizing the in-case camshaft. They could easily remake this thing with 12:1 compression, port injection and a sophisticated ignition system.

I had a 2CV6 and during a travel i needed to break hard to avoid a collision. The single brake line broke and i had no brake at all, happely i could use the hand break and slow down at the side of the road. These car's can be a death trap, no protection at all, single break system but i loved to drive it. Just fun to cruise around in these floating sofa's.

Meny years ago, I had a CZ-125, for a short while. I stopped at a junction, & when I went to pull out onto the main road, the dam thing tried to reverse back onto the road I was leaving??? It had to go, #@?! The point being, it will run backwards,! Thank for the diagrams. P/S, top tip if you have an old 2-stroke, like the BSA Bantom? When rebuilding, always renew the crankshaft oil seals, even if they look OK. Your primary compression depends on them.

Early on I put together a Go-Kart with a 2-1/2hp Cast Iron Briggs and Stratton engine that drove 1 rear wheel. Next I received a worn out Jacobson 1.8hp 2 cycle Aluminum lawnmower engine from a friend. We put it on my Go-Kart and it was so cool. It didn't go faster or quicker, but my Go-Kart seemed lighter and it had a very silencing muffler that made it just purr, like a Honda 50. Eventually as I upgraded my Go-Kart I went back to a 4 stroke Aluminum Briggs rated at 7hp. It was about the same weight as the 2-1/2hp Cast Iron engine but had tremendous get away and topped out at 50mph at WOT no governor. One day I came across a McCulloch 2 cycle chainsaw engine. It was very powerful rated between 7 and 13 hp. My Go-Kart had evolved into a low slung racer and now it went 65mph. Then I got another McCulloch nearly the same size and mounted it on the other rear wheel. It took some work to get it to run backward, but eventually it did. If you can imagine two 7 - 13hp engines on a small Go-Kart, it meant 90mph +, but I had no way to clock it. I was Sixteen then and just learning to drive a car, and so were all of my friends. Finding someone to clock my Go-Kart at over 80mph just wasn't available to me. Besides, I was 16, I could drive the car! Good Bye Go-Kart. I gave my Go-Kart to a neighbor a little younger than me. Hello Cruising Woodward Avenue. Enter 1969 Plymouth GTX. I still have the GTX. ben/ michigan
